As the decision from HUD on keeping the Disparate Impact Rule intact hangs in the balance, Texas Housers has been proactive in its approach.
Tens of thousands of comments were submitted over the course of the past week from those who felt their opinion should be heard regarding HUD’s deconstruction of the rule, which legally allows challenges to practices that aren’t explicitly discriminatory but have disproportionately adverse impacts on historically marginalized people. Texas Housers submitted and posted its thoughts of this abdication of duty last week. Advocacy co-directors Adam Pirtle and Lauren Loney also spoke with KUT reporter Audrey McGlinchy about the Disparate Impact rule and its importance.
