The 2016 Texas Houser Awards

On a dreary afternoon the day after a divisive election, the stories of three outstanding community organizations lifted the spirits of housing advocates and providers gathered at our annual Texas Houser Awards luncheon.

This year, the Houser Awards honored three groups fighting for housing and neighborhood equality in low income communities of color: The women and youth leaders of A Resource In Serving Equality (ARISE) in the colonias of the Rio Grande Valley, the residents and attorneys behind a historic civil rights agreement in Corpus Christi and the community champions of the Sunnyside Neighborhood Plan in Houston. Read more about the 2016 Housers here.

We are proud to work with each of the 2016 Housers and are grateful for our sponsors who made the event possible and who support our work and the work of our partners throughout the year: DMA Development Co., the Housing Authority of the City of Austin, William Forbath and Judy Coffin, Robert and Arlene Paup, AARP Texas, Bob and Margy Ayres, Nick Barbaro and Susan Moffat, Daniel & Beshara, P.C., Bill and Marianne Dorman, Expanding Horizons Foundation, Foundation Communities, Ladies of Charity of Austin, Elizabeth Mueller and Michael Oden, Mary Sanger and Wendy Watriss.
