Houston on track to repair 44 Ike-damaged homes

Some owners skeptical the delay is finally over

City housing officials say they’re on track to have 44 storm-damaged Houston homes approved for repairs by June after sitting on nearly $10 million in Hurricane Ike disaster relief funding for more than two years.

“The only way they can get their homes repaired is if the city makes this work,” said John Henneberger, co-director of the Texas Low-Income Housing Information Service, an Austin nonprofit. “Other cities are running their programs and not running into these problems.”
